Blog niches are specially curated subject matters that blogs build content around. A blog niche is an answer to the question, “What is your blog about?”

Answering that question tells you what niche to stick to and is better done at the start of your blogging journey. Why? Because it determines how far you will go and whether the venture will fly with audiences.

Sure, you can write whatever you feel like at any one time. There are blogs like this. But that’s not a very sustainable niche, especially not for long-term success. You will only attract a sporadic audience that might be interested in that bit, but never fully tie down and grow a committed readership.

For instance, say you are interested in casino games. While you can generate a readership interested in reading about your random encounters on and away from casinos, you will gain better followership by focusing on the interest alone: casinos. Instead of documenting how you found a casino or what led you to one, just review casinos or talk about casino game developers, like Evolution Gaming, for instance. It helps that there is a lot to discuss about the developer, from the games they make to their history to the casinos featuring their products.

This will attract more readers, but your blog will rank higher because of the in-demand information it holds.

Tips and Tricks

Here are a few tips and tricks for blogging about a niche:

Choose based on interest

Your blog should revolve around your interests. Doing so will make it less a chore and a more passion-driven venture. So, look into your hobbies and likes. It could be traveling, lifestyle, health, food, gaming, fitness, décor, etcetera. Just find what works for you, and you will never run out of what to blog about.

Tap into your Experiences

If your hobbies or likes aren’t subjects you want to talk about, consider tapping into your experiences. You can blog solely on the stories of your life. This explains why we have personal blogs that describe some of the most beautiful experiences, including overcoming challenges or learning important lessons.

Be the solution

People often come to blogs for solutions. That makes every blog an answer to someone’s questions. So, when blogging about a niche, ensure that your content answers a potential question.

For instance, if your blog is about tech and gadgets, you could develop content on making devices run faster, debugging, or tackling common issues. Alternatively, if you blog about food, you could develop content on budget foods, what to prepare when you don’t know what to eat, etcetera.

Search for popular topics

Search engines like Google typically inventory the most searched trends in a particular niche. So, before settling on a niche, ensure it’s a well-researched subject. Doing so will ensure that your content remains evergreen for longer and make your blog more relevant with time.

Complete the puzzle

Before starting a blog and choosing a niche, you must have read several others. In all your time as a reader, surely, you have noticed that no blog is ever complete. For instance, while a blog might teach you to prepare your favorite meal, it may not cover presentation and complementary dishes or wines. You could be the one that bridges that gap. Not only would you be doing something different, but it will make you stand out from the rest.
